Snowbird Photographer: Re Wikstrom

Name and nickname(s):
Re Wikstrom, Re IS my nickname. Names for the nickname: Regis, Reesel, Remote control, Regal Cinema, Race-Car Re, Rock Garden Re and my brother calls me Squirt

Age:
26

Shot my first ski/snowboarding photo:
First crappy ones: in high school at Mont Tremblant, Quebec First kinda cool ones: In college in Switzerland and at Tuckerman Ravine in New Hampshire

Hometown:
Stamford, CT

Why Snowbird:
High concentration of ripping female skiers

Favorite location to shoot at Snowbird:
Depends on the light / time of day

Inside tip for skiing/riding Snowbird:
Follow friends who work up here

If I could photograph any three people (living or deceased) at Snowbird I would choose:
Ahh! Its not fair to make me choose!

If I wasn’t a pro photographer I’d be:
Still skiing and driving GoKarts

Something people would be surprised to know about me:
My favorite song is “East Bound and Down” by Jerry Reed (Smokey & the Bandit theme)

I’m inspired by:
All the ski photographers that came before me (at least those I’ve seen since I was about 12 when I got my first subscription to Powder). Also inspired by a lot of top bike photogs (Gibson, Larnce, Hylands, etc…) Super inspired by all of the atletes I have been fortunate to work with. And always inspired by the endless smiles and fun we have in the mountains.

Best mountain culture slang word or phrase:
SEND IT!

What you’ll find on my nightstand:
A lamp that’s not plugged in, my cell phone, some magazines and NOT my alarm clock because I would turn it off in my sleep if it was that close

To unwind, I…
Watch Tivo’ed episodes of “The Office”

Grape Nuts or Lucky Charms?
Kashi Autumn Wheat with real strawberries

Look for my work in:
Powder Magazine, Powder website, ReWikstrom.com, in the “Ski the Andes” brochure, in Freeride Magazine
