Snowbird Employer Profile

Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort

With more than 500 inches of annual snowfall and a mountain considered among the most challenging and varied in the country, it’s no wonder SKIING Magazine has ranked Snowbird, along with Little Cottonwood Canyon neighbor Alta, the No. 1 resort in the United States.

Snowbird is located in the heart of the breathtaking Wasatch Mountains 25 miles from downtown Salt Lake City and less than 15 minutes from the suburb communities of Sandy and Cottonwood Heights. A year-round resort with close to 2,000 employees in the peak of the winter season and approximately 1000 in the summer months, Snowbird offers a wide range of outdoor recreation, meeting and spa facilities, restaurants, concerts, festivals and much more.

But it’s the skiing and snowboarding that put Snowbird on the map and converts vacationers and seasonal employees into lifelong residents and members of the Snowbird team. A sprawling 2,500-acre mountain with 10 chairlifts and the iconic blue and red Tram cars, Snowbird offers everything from wide-open bowls, rock-lined chutes, trees and smooth corduroy groomers. There is something for every skier and rider! When the boots come off after a day on the mountain, Snowbird’s dining opportunities provide a smorgasbord of flavors and settings, while the Cliff Spa offers world class pampering and relaxation.

Snowbird is owned by Dick Bass, the first man to conquer the Seven Summits – each of the highest peaks on the world’s seven continents. Snowbird opened in December of 1971 and has expanded since the early days. One constant, however, is the Aerial Tram that carries riders 2,900 vertical feet to 11,000-foot Hidden Peak. In the winter of 1999/2000, Snowbird opened Mineral Basin, a 500-acres powder rider’s dream that enabled Snowbird to offer a combined lift ticket with nearby Alta after the opening of the Baldy Express chairlift in 2002. The combined Alta Snowbird ticket encompasses 4,700 acres of unforgettable powder skiing.
