Professional Appearance Standards

First impressions can have a significant impact on the success of the company. Snowbird expects that each employee’s dress, personal appearance and personal hygiene project a professional image. Appropriate grooming and professional attire inspire customer confidence and create a comfortable and productive environment for everyone. Snowbird expects each employee to arrive to work in a conservative and professional style and to remember that the employee is representing the company at all times.

General Standard
Employees are expected to report to work in professional appearance standards. Every employee, whether in uniform or business casual attire, should be well-groomed and conservative in appearance.

Dress/Attire

Nametags: Nametags must be worn at all times. Nametags are expected be worn on your chest and not on lanyards, hats or any other area. You should request that your supervisor order a nametag for you. If you lose your nametag let your supervisor know and we will order you a new one.
Hats: If your position requires or permits you to wear a hat as part of your uniform, the brim must be straight and facing forward. Hats should be a Snowbird hat, unless otherwise authorized by your manager. Beanies are prohibited unless they are a part of your uniform and should never be worn while working indoors. Bandanas are prohibited while on duty.

Jewelry

Female: Earrings are permitted provided that they are not distracting or extreme. Earrings must not extend more than 1 ½ inches from the bottom of the earlobe. Women who prepare or handle food may not wear rings, bracelets, rope jewelry or porous material on their hands or wrists. Visible pierced body jewelry and gauged piercings are prohibited (tongue rings/studs included).
Male: Visible pierced ears, body jewelry or gauged piercings are prohibited (tongue rings/studs included). Men who prepare or handle food may not wear rings, bracelets, rope jewelry or porous material on their hands or wrists.

Tattoos
Visible tattoos must be covered while in uniform or on duty. Exceptions for small, inoffensive tattoos may be permitted with Senior Management approval. Offensive, distracting or excessive tattoos are prohibited.

Uniform Attire

  • Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
  • Belts must be worn with pants unless otherwise authorized by your manager.
  • Jeans must be approved by your department manager and must be in good condition. Torn, frayed or worn jeans are prohibited.
  • Shorts, skirts or skorts must be approved by your department manager and must be no higher than 4 inches above the knee.
  • All uniformed employees must wear closed-toed shoes unless specifically authorized by your manager.
  • Employees may not wear their Snowbird uniform (clothing provided by your department) while off-duty or on days off.
  • Shorts, skirts or skorts must be approved by your department manager and must be no higher than 4 inches above the knee.

Business Casual Attire

  • Whether tucked in or not, shirts must be worn as they are designed to be worn. No bare midriffs.
  • Jeans must be approved by your department manager and must be in good condition. Torn, frayed or worn jeans are prohibited.
  • Acceptable attire includes collared shirts, buttoned shirts, dress shirts, polo shirts, sweaters, khaki pants, docker™ style pants, skirts of a professional length, cotton trousers, etc.
  • Shorts, skirts or skorts must be approved by your department manager and must be no higher than 4 inches above the knee.
  • Neckties are not required for business casual attire.
  • Business casual attire should be neatly pressed, clean and conservative in style.
  • Shorts, skirts or skorts must be approved by your department manager and must be no higher than 4 inches above the knee.

Unacceptable Attire Uniform/Business Casual

  • Casual T-shirts with inappropriate logo’s / saying, tank tops or spaghetti straps, see-through clothing, low-cut clothing, tight or revealing clothing, excessively baggy pants, shorts or skirts higher than 4 inches above the knee, bare midriff, tightly fitted leggings, sweat pants.
  • Open-toed casual sandals or Flip Flops.
  • Beanies while working indoors, hats worn backwards or sideways and bandanas.

Grooming

    Female
  • Hair: Hair should be clean, neatly maintained and conservative in style. Extreme hair styles such as tails, shaved portions, mohawks, dreadlocks and unnatural hair colors are not acceptable.
  • Fingernails: Fingernails must be clean, conservative and well-groomed. Women who prepare or handle food may not wear false nails or nail jewelry. Nail polish must be well-groomed and conservative.
  • Deodorant: Please wear deodorant. Feel free to wear perfume or cologne, but please keep fragrances to a minimum.
    Male
  • Hair: Hair should be clean, neatly maintained and conservative in style. Extreme hair styles such as tails, shaved portions, mohawks, dreadlocks and unnatural hair colors are not acceptable. Hair length in the front should not extend below the eye brows and must be worn out of the face. Hair length on the side should not extend below the earlobe.
  • Fingernails: Fingernails must be trimmed and well-groomed.
  • Deodorant: Please wear deodorant. Feel free to wear cologne, but please keep fragrances to a minimum.
  • Facial Hair: Must be clean-shaven daily. Well-groomed mustaches are acceptable as long as they don’t extend past the corner of your mouth. Beards, soul patches and goatees are prohibited. Sideburns must be well-groomed and not extend below the bottom of the earlobe.

The guidelines defined above provide the general standards of professional and consistent appearance for all Snowbird employees. Department managers/supervisors may choose to establish higher professional appearance standards. Please abide by your department’s professional appearance standards.

In the event that you fail to meet the Snowbird professional appearance standards, you will be asked to make the adjustments immediately to be in compliance or may be sent home from your shift. In the unfortunate event that you cannot comply with Snowbird’s professional appearance standards, your manager may take disciplinary action up to and including suspension pending termination of your employment. Non-compliance with this policy may also affect your rehire status and put future employment opportunities with Snowbird at risk.
