2009 EVENT SCHEDULE:
Thursday, April 16th
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Amateurs thinking about jumping may try out jumping hill. All jumpers must sign waiver at Activity Center and check in at jumping hill.

Please note that NO Nordic Jump Suits will be allowed in the Pro-Division this year.

Friday, April 17th
8 a.m. – 10 a.m. Registration at the Alpine Room, Level 2 at Snowbird Center
9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Mandatory hill prep and warm-up
9:45 a.m. Mandatory jumpers meeting on the knoll
10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Open practice all divisions
12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Hill prep and lunch break
1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Open practice (conditions permitting)
2:30 p.m. -? Hill prep – All jumpers!
4 p.m. Jumpers meeting at Hill Base

Saturday, April 18th
9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Hill prep and practice
10 a.m. Amateur and Telemark competition starts
Two rounds of two jumps each (four jumps total) with the highest scoring jump from each round added together for a total score. Top 15 to Sunday’s final.
Pro seeding round begins immediately after Amateur and Telemark jumps. Up to four jumps for distance only to determine Sunday’s starting order.
Hill prep – All jumpers after pro seedings
Apres Jump – TBD

Sunday, April 19th
9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Hill prep and practice
10 a.m. Amateur and Telemark finals
Top ten jumpers – One round (two jumps) with the highest scoring jump added to Saturday’s total to determine final results.

Pro event starts immediately after Amateur/Telemark finals: Two rounds of two jumps each (four total jumps) with the highest scoring jump from each round added together to determine standings.

Cut to top 15 for final round (two jumps) with the highest scoring jump of the round added to the scores from the previous two rounds to determine final standings.
Awards ceremony on Plaza Deck one hour after pro final ends.

In the qualifying round of the 2008 National Gelande Championships, held at Snowbird, local skier and first time gelande competitor unofficialy broke the world record with a jump of 171 feet in the amateur tele mark division. The previous record was set in 1986 by Screwslouski with a distance of 168 feet. Then in the 3rd round of the finals, Snowbird Ski Patroler Steve Miller officially broke the reccord with a jump of 174 feet. 30 secconds later, Tai Robinson broke the world record with a flight of 205 feet!
