A Snowbird Tradition

This is one of the oldest road bike races in the state of Utah. Riders race up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Entry 2 from 9400 South & 2000 East. This is 10 miles in 3,500 vertical feet!

Great prizes, a band and raffle. Carpooling is encouraged! If you have friends or family that wish to watch you finish, encourage them to be in the canyon by 8 a.m. The road will not close but will be restricted.

CONTEST INFO: This is the 30th year of the Bicycle Hill Climb, which is very exciting to us here at the Bird. We are going to have a “Best of the Bicycle Hill Climb” contest. This is where riders write us a short story on their most memorable experience at the Bicycle Hill Climb. Winners will receive a free entry into this year’s event and a special prize for their bike, provided by Wound-Up Composites. Entries must be completed by July 25th. RACE COURSE:
Start: Park –n- Ride Lot on 9400 South & 2000 East
Finish: Snowbird, Entry 2

DISTANCE: 10 miles, 3500 vertical feet

RACE START TIME:8 a.m.

ONLINE REGISTRATION: Racers can register on-line www.sportsbaseonline.com from June 15 – August 14.

CANYON BICYCLES REGISTRATION: You can also register at Canyon Bicycles (3969 Wasatch Blvd.) between July 1 & August 10. T-shirts and bibs can be picked up at Canyon Bicycles. All others can pick them up on Friday, August 15th or the morning of.

COST: $30 before August 14th
$35 on August 15th
$40 if you absolutely have to register the morning of

PACKET PICK UP: Friday, August 15th from 5 – 8 p.m. at the 9400 South Park –n- Ride Lot

MORNING OF: Packets can be picked up on the morning of the race from 6:30 – 7:30 a.m.

Racers registering the morning of will pay $40. We encourage everyone to register early. T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who are pre-registered.

AWARDS: Awards will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m.

All racers must pick up a bib by 7:30 a.m. Race starts at 8 a.m. SHARP!

ULTRA-WIDOWMAKER
DATE: Saturday, August 16, 2008
TIME: Immediately after Bicycle Hill Climb
COST: $45 before August 14th, $50 on August 15th
PLACE: Start: Gad Valley, Finish: Hidden Peak
DISTANCE: 14 miles, 6,500 vertical feet
MORE INFO: Once you come across the Bicycle Hill Climb finish line, you will then proceed to Gad Valley, change bikes and head up to Hidden Peak. All racers are responsible for their own bikes/gear.

This is not the traditional Widowmaker, which is on September 20th and includes only the mountain bike portion.
