The Learner Permit - for first time skiers and riders

The Learner's Permit is good for the rest of the current season only and is not transferrable. One per guest. Ages 13 and up. Offered during regular mountain school season (see open and close dates on website)

Dates: Offered daily from Nov. 23, 2012 - April 14, 2013 (conditions permitting).

Meeting Time: 9:45 a.m. or 1:15 p.m.
Location: Chickadee Bowl
Lesson Time: 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 - 4 p.m.

Jan. 2-31; afternoons only - 1:30-4:00

Adults: Ages 13 and up - for first time skiers and riders only.

  • Includes 2.5 hour lesson, lift ticket and rentals.
  • Receive the Learner Permit Program (above) for $45 (regular price $95).
  • Learner will receive a “Learner’s Permit Pass” with a photo.
  • Entitles the learner to five additional discounted adult group lessons ($65 instead of $105) subject to availability.
  • AND five additional days of skiing for half price!

  • Must pre-register a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Subject to availability.

Children & Youth Afternoon Adventure: Ages 7-12 - for first time skiers and riders only.

Jan. 2-31; afternoons only - 1:30-4:00

  • Price: $45 (regular price $95)
  • Includes 2.5 hr afternoon lesson (2.5 hrs), lift ticket and rentals.
  • Must pre-register a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Subject to availability.
  • Must request this program when registering.

NEW Learner’s Permit 4 Week Program: Ages 13 and up - for first time skiers and riders only.

Afternoons only - 1:30-4:00

  • Price: $280 BEST VALUE!
  • Includes four 2.5 hour afternoon lessons, appropriate lift tickets for progress (chairlift tickets after first week), four weeks of rentals and Learner Permit.
  • Learner will receive a “Learner’s Permit Pass” with a photo.
  • Will stay with same group for four sessions with the same instructor (unless progress to another level).
  • Entitles the learner to five additional discounted adult group lessons ($65 instead of $105). Subject to availability.
  • AND five additional days of skiing for half price!
  • The Learner Permit is good for the rest of the current season only and is not transferrable. One per guest.
  • Dates: Saturday Sessions - Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26 OR Sunday Sessions - Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27.

Booking/Cancellation Policy
Advance reservations are required for all lessons to guarantee availability.

Reservations Recommended: (801) 947-8222 or mountainschool@snowbird.com. Subject to availability and may sell out at any time. One family per reservation. 

Other Information: All Mountain School programs are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and except for private instruction, require a minimum of two participants. Lift tickets are required in addition to Mountain School programs unless otherwise noted.

All activities begin promptly at their designated times. Please allow a minimum of 60 minutes to arrange for equipment rentals and to get to your designated meeting place. We are not able to accommodate late arrivals.

Class lessons are scheduled to be available from Nov. 23, 2012 through April 14, 2013. Private lessons are available by reservation, conditions permitting, from season opening date until April 30, 2013. Mountain School may modify this schedule as needed.

Private lessons and Specialty Camps only will utilize side door Tram access prior to 11 a.m.

Snowbird Mountain School cannot extend purchase deadlines, provide refunds, allow students to switch dates between sessions or provide “make-ups” for missed classes. Due to the unique quality of our resort location, there are times when Little Cottonwood Canyon road and/or lift access is delayed due to avalanche danger. In these cases we monitor the situation closely and send programs out as soon as there is staff available and conditions warrant. Circumstances change with each situation and therefore it is important for guests to communicate with our staff. If lessons are missed due to these extreme circumstances, we will make every effort to accommodate our guests.

Unless otherwise indicated, children’s programs are for 3 - 6 year olds, youth programs are for 7 - 15 year olds and adult programs are for age 16+.
