Wild Mountain Yoga at Snowbird

Beyond Sport

“I cannot say enough POSITIVE things about these five or six days. Everything was so organized and personal. I learned more about physical (snowboarding) and spiritual (yoga) health than I ever expected!!” -– Elise, Manchester, VT

Join Wild Mountain Yoga at Snowbird for the perfect combination of inspirational skiing and powerful yoga practice. Practice mindfulness in the mountains, while learning techniques to improve your balance, strength, and experience on the slopes and on the yoga mat. For us, there is nothing like the feeling of being in the mountains with others, sharing experiences as we learn about ourselves – body, mind and spirit – and exploring the joys of movement and the power of yoga. If you want to take your skiing and yoga practice to new heights in an appreciative and non-judgmental social environment and an awe-inspiring physical environment, we’d love to have you join us! Enjoy mornings of a powerful yoga practice, days on snow with certified ski pros, and apres ski relaxation and discussion.

Wild Mountain Yoga Director, Jo Kirsch, and her husband, Bob Speck, are both certified Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA). Jo is certified to teach yoga by The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute, directed by Beryl Bender Birch, author of the best-selling book “Power Yoga.” Bob has also studied yoga with Beryl Bender Birch, is a PSIA-E Division Clinic Leader and a former ski school director.

Both Jo and Bob are known for their passion for being in the mountains and their ability to connect with the people with whom they share their mountain experiences. They have a zest for life that is contagious, and a way to look at situations that is insightful and positive.

Wild Mountain Yoga has developed a custom-designed, tested, pre-season and season-long conditioning yoga practice for skiers and riders. Based on Astanga yoga, this program increases your flexibility, balance and strength through a dynamic series of postures, controlled breathing and mindfulness. It targets core strength while correcting imbalances. Core strength and body flexibility are the keys to achieving dynamic balance and reducing the risk of injury. This powerful form of yoga practice can help you have a more powerful and inspirational skiing experience. Jo has taught this yoga program to athletes at the Mount Snow Academy for snowboard and ski competitors; to PSIA Instructors, to Women’s ski groups and to skiers and riders looking to improve their performance and enjoyment on and off the hill.
