Snowbird's Oktoberfest Balances Beloved Traditions with New Experiences

Snowbird, Utah – A Utah tradition, Snowbird’s Oktoberfest returns for its 51st rendition every Saturday and Sunday, plus Labor Day, from Aug. 12 to Oct. 15, 2023. Taking place from 12 – 6 p.m., guests can expect family-friendly Oktoberfest classics—such as street performers, face painting, live music, traditional Bavarian fare, Der Marktplatz vendors and more—coupled with new events and activities, including live art installations from vibrant local artists.

In addition to traditional Oktoberfest events, Snowbird will operate over 20 summer activities, including the all-new Tram rooftop balconies—the first and only of their kind in the United States. Guests can purchase tickets for summer activities online for the best pricing and save time upon arrival with Snowbird’s Pick-Up Boxes, conveniently located on the Plaza Deck.

“Each summer and fall we welcome our local community—some of whom have been coming for over 50 years—back to Snowbird for this beloved celebration,” said Snowbird President and General Manager Dave Fields. “Our Oktoberfest is one of the largest in the country, and we are proud to provide an authentic, fun and ever-improving cultural experience to our guests, new and old, each and every year.”

Admission to Oktoberfest is free of cost; however, due to limited availability and to encourage carpooling, parking will cost $12. Snowbird will continue to offer its Free Ride Down program, which provides regularly scheduled rides via Canyon Transportation from the Oktoberfest Arch to various Park & Ride locations in the Salt Lake Valley. Rides are free and first-come, first-served. Guests are encouraged to download the Snowbird mobile app for parking availability updates and the latest on mountain information.

Events

Live Art Installations, Daily

Each weekend a different local artist will set up their easel at Oktoberfest and create their own take on Snowbird’s iconic wings logo. With differing styles, mediums and skillsets, watch as these large-format art pieces are created from start to finish.

Beard & Mustache Competition, August 12

Sport your best beard, mustache or whiskerina (any fake beard or mustache you can create) to Oktoberfest on Aug. 12 and enter the Beard & Mustache Competition hosted by the Salty Saints Social Club. This fun, family-friendly event will include categories spanning every type and style of facial hair, including whiskerina. A portion of all entry fees will go to Wasatch Adaptive Sports.

Grand Oktoberfest Weekend, September 2 – 4

Spanning Labor Day weekend, this event pays tribute to the original Oktoberfest and celebration of The Grand Entry of the Breweries in Munich, Germany. Snowbird’s procession will end at the Oktoberfest Halle stage featuring a parade of musicians and dancers, as well as a celebratory keg tapping.

Live Music

Live music is a cornerstone of Snowbird’s Oktoberfest celebration and this year is no different with a revamped lineup of incredible musicians each weekend across two stages.

  • Oktoberfest Halle, daily from Noon – 6 pm
  • Featuring lively polka music and dancing, guests can embrace Bavarian culture daily during Oktoberfest at the Oktoberfest Halle.

  • Chickadee Stage, daily from 2 – 5 pm
  • Local musicians will bring sprightly music to the Chickadee Stage daily during Oktoberfest, conditions permitting.
