SATURDAY, SUNDAY, POWDERDAY
For families short on time – and winter vacations – Snowbird offers the ideal weekend getaway. As the most accessible year-round resort in North America you can hop on an early flight and be on the slopes by noon that same day! And with an average of 500 inches of The Greatest Snow on Earth®, Snowbird gives weekend warriors the best chance for a powder-filled escape from the stresses of home without breaking the bank. This year, Snowbird is offering half-price AltaSnowbird lift tickets to guests arriving at Salt Lake International Airport within the last 24 hours.
Ever wanted to ski and golf on the same day? With 202 days in the 2010/11 season, Snowbird’s chairs didn’t stop turning until July 4! With some of the deepest snow pack and one of the longest seasons in North America, Snowbird is the ultimate spring (and sometimes summer) skiing destination.
HOOKED FOR LIFE
In this age of internet startups, it seems like no one sticks with the same company anymore. Except for 14 Snowbird employees, including President Bob Bonar, Snow Safety Director Peter Schory and legendary instructor Junior Bounous, who all have worked for the ‘Bird for more than 40 years. They have a lot of stories to tell (and even more powder stashes that they may or may not be willing to share).
FOOD TO MATCH THE POWDER
Led by Frederic Barbier, Snowbird’s Food and Beverage Department is reaching new heights with an impressive staff of veteran chefs creating mountain culinary delights for every palate. The Aerie’s Chef Ken Ohlinger serves a modern-American gastropub cuisine focusing on using local, seasonal and organic ingredients. The Aerie also offers skiers and riders a fantastic selection of sushi topped only by the 10th floor mountain views, while Lodge Bistro Chef R.J. Peterson’s serves a delightful French/American cuisine. And everything tastes better after a day spent amongst The Greatest Snow on Earth®.
EXPERIENCE SNOWBIRD LIKE A PRO
Only six miles from all the amenities Salt Lake Valley has to offer, coupled with Snowbird’s variety of terrain, it’s no wonder Snowbird is home to the best big mountain skiers and riders. Ski or snowboard with the pros, like Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Caroline Gleich and Forrest Shearer, and scope out the best lines on the mountain.
SNOWBIRD’S COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Since its inception, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort has been committed to environmental stewardship. Snowbird’s environmental achievements range from improving wildlife habitat and water quality to resort-wide recycling programs and a groundbreaking effort to clean up heavy metals contaminating the American Fork River. Snowbird’s ongoing commitment to be environmentally sound and aware was noted by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) awarding Snowbird and the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation the 2013 Golden Eagle Award for Overall Environmental Excellence by a ski resort.
