Trees to be planted in Utah on behalf of 2020-21 passholders.

It’s no secret that protecting our natural playground is important to those who live, play and work at Snowbird. From producing a portion of our energy in-house, to pioneering the R.I.D.E. program (that we hope can return in seasons to come), to reducing our carbon emissions and more, we take our commitment to being stewards of our natural environment seriously. This season is no different as we’ve launched one of our largest initiatives yet, called Buy a Pass. Plant a Tree. Play Forever., in collaboration with POWDR and our partner Nokian Tyres

50,000 Tree Planted for Snowbird Season Passes

Buy a Pass. Plant a Tree. Play Forever. is an exciting program that honors both our passholders and our desire to protect the environment by planting a tree for every season pass sold before September 30, 2020. Snowbird will work with Nokian Tyres to identify specific in-state reforestation projects right here in Utah to plant trees on behalf of our passholders, with the assistance of One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization focused on global reforestation. The goal is to plant the trees in spring 2021 with the greater purpose of reducing carbon in our atmosphere.

Snowbird Plants Trees for Season Passes

On average, a mature tree absorbs carbon dioxide at a rate of up to 48 pounds per year, which equates to approximately 1 ton of carbon dioxide over 40 years. According to a statement by POWDR, that means this program has the potential to counter the emissions of around 9,800 passenger vehicles driven for one year through the joint efforts of all participating resorts. That is a difference we are proud to contribute to, and we hope that our season passholders are proud, too.
