Don’t miss the live music from two stages, with traditional-esque German music (and a few dancing guests) in the large food tent. The famous Alphorns billow beautiful notes from the top of Hidden Peak daily at 3 pm.

The origins of Oktoberfest date back to 19th-century Bavaria, when King Ludwig called for a state fair in Munich to celebrate his autumn marriage. Here in Utah, it wasn’t until 1972 — 1 year after Snowbird opened — when the festival took root. Learn more about the history of Snowbird's Oktoberfest.

The annual festival includes a biergarten offering more than 50 varieties of beer. This includes traditional German-style beers and those made by Utah breweries, including Moab Brewery, Bohemian, Uinta and Squatters. Save a few dollars on beers by reusing your previously-purchased, 1-liter Snowbird Oktoberfest beer stein or mug. Or buy a new mug, keep coming back every year and start a collection — either way. For other libation options, visit the outdoor bar at The Forklift. Oktoberfest food choices include select German favorites, such as bratwurst, weisswurst, sauerkraut, apple strudel, spaetzle, beef rouladen, pretzels and Bavarian roasted almonds. Beer and food are purchased a la carte. Check out this year's Oktoberfest menus.

Plan Your Oktoberfest Visit

We can't wait to see you at this year's Oktoberfest at Snowbird. Review a few of our festival policies so you're better prepared to spend an incredible day (or weekend) celebrating in the mountains.

All points of sale, excluding independent vendors at Der Marketplatz, have gone cashless including Oktoberfest & Snowbird restaurants, retail stores, lodging properties, the spa, summer activities, parking & valet. Snowbird is accepting credit, debit and mobile pay.

Reverse ATMs are available at no charge and are located at the Snowbird Center on Level 1 next to Wings and on Level 2 in the Snowbird Center lounge along with The Cliff Lodge lobby. Prepaid debit cards from the Reverse ATMs are accepted anywhere, not just Snowbird.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of this event and limited parking at the resort, we strongly encourage guests to consider carpooling. To that end, during these event days, Snowbird will be charging a fee for parking in lots accessed via Entries 1, 2 and 4. Valet parking at the Snowbird Center, Entry 2, is also available for an additional fee. There is no Oktoberfest parking at Entry 3. Payment by credit or debit card only will be accepted upon entry.

Need a ride down the canyon? Hop in a Canyon Transportation van at the Oktoberfest Arch available every half hour starting from 4:30 pm until 8 pm. These vans will take you and your friends to a Park & Ride location of your choosing in Cottonwood Heights where it will be easier to order a rideshare service or have someone pick you up (Base of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Base of Big Cottonwood Canyon, Swamp Lot and 6200 S Park & Ride). These vans are limited capacity and first come first serve, but a great option when you're in a pinch! Email events@snowbird.com or talk to a Public Safety officer at the festival if you have any questions.

No weapons of any kind are permitted on Snowbird property. Please lock them securely in your vehicle while visiting Snowbird. Bags will be checked by Snowbird Festival Greeters at the entries. Outside food & beverage is not permitted inside the festival gates. No outside alcohol is permitted.

Snowbird is a non-smoking resort and does not allow smoking indoors or within the Oktoberfest festival grounds. Outdoor smoking is only permitted in designated areas, 25 feet from any entrance, exit, window, or air intake.

No pets are allowed in the canyon, in the lodges or kept in vehicles during your visit, except by special permit (canyon residents, rescue and ADA service dogs). Little Cottonwood Canyon is part of the Salt Lake City Protected Watershed. For more information, visit keepitpure.com.
