Rescue Training Center
Located to the east of The Cliff Lodge at the back of the Batch Plant Lot, the Avalanche Rescue Training Center is a resource to practice your beacon searches. The beacon park includes a control panel and buried transceivers. Users will select the number of transceivers for their practice session at the control panel, go through the steps of the rescue process, including using a beacon, activating search mode and probing for target, then receiving computer-generated feedback.
The Avalanche Rescue Training Center is available to the public, free of charge, throughout the winter thanks to funding through Wasatch Backcountry Rescue, a volunteer organization made up of snow safety professionals and their avalanche rescue dogs. It is maintained by Snowbird Mountain Guides and is part of their larger Avalanche Education offerings.
