About the 'Fest

The origins of Oktoberfest date back to 19th-century Bavaria, when King Ludwig called for a state fair in Munich to celebrate his autumn marriage. Here in Utah, it wasn’t until 1972—Snowbird's first summer—that the festival took root. Learn more about the history of Snowbird's Oktoberfest.

The annual festival includes a biergarten offering an array of traditional German-style beers and those made by local Utah breweries. Save a few dollars on beers by reusing your previous 1-liter Snowbird Oktoberfest beer stein or mug or buy a new mug and keep coming back every year to start a collection. Oktoberfest food choices include select German favorites such as bratwurst, weisswurst, sauerkraut, apple strudel and pretzels. Beer and food are purchased à la carte.

Bird Hack: Oktoberfest offers an array of activities for the whole family, including over 21 summer activities. For the best prices, purchase tickets for Scenic Tram Rides or All-Day Activity Passes online ahead of time.
