Respect each other, ride responsibly.
Just like an Olive Garden, when you're here, you're part of The Bird Fam. And this Fam goes hard: before-dawn alarms on powder days, hours-long waits at the Canyon mouth for the road to open, late nights waxing skis and an ever-growing checklist of runs and cliffs to hit. Everyone here has put in the work to be here, and everyone here deserves respect for doing that.
So whether you're a seasoned local or a first-time visitor, your responsibility as a guest is to make The Bird fun for everyone–other guests, staff and your crew. Read through the recommendations and guidelines to learn the ins and outs of being your best self at The Bird.
Show Love for Each Other
Simply put, everyone here is obsessed with skiing or snowboarding. Keep your fellow rider safe while out on the slopes with these tips:
Show Love for the Mountain
From the phenomenal views to the one-of-a-kind dining establishments to creatures big and small that call the mountain home, this place is special. Please treat the mountain and the staff who work here day in and day out with respect.

Follow On-Mountain Rules
Ropes and closures are put in place for your safety. Stay out of closed areas and do not duck avalanche closure rope lines. Failure to observe posted boundary, closure and warning signs and bamboo and ropes will result in your pass being suspended or expulsion from the property. Violating Interlodge is considered a Class B Misdemeanor punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and 6 months in jail.
Show Love for Yourself
A good day on the slopes starts with a good attitude and good gear. In addition to visiting The Cliff Spa, here are some ways you can show some self-love at Snowbird.

Wear a Helmet
Protect your head! Learn from Snowbird athlete, Kelsey Boyer, and her non-profit, Save a Brain, about how to choose the right helmet for you.

Bring Layers
On storm days, you’ll want a waterproof jacket and pants (sorry, jeans—this isn’t your day). Keep a few extra layers like long sleeves or a sweatshirt in your car or hotel room to stay warm as needed. Or, Snowbird shops have you covered with layers and hand warmers for purchase.

Take a Lesson
Want to further your on-mountain skills? Take a lesson with Mountain School, with an instructor who can help you achieve your goals in a fun and safe way. If you want to learn the mountain better, check out the Adult Mountain Experience, a lift-line-skipping group adventure led by a guide.

The Less Formal Rules of Riding The Bird
Whether they’re rules, best practices or traditions, Snowbird locals want you to know these few things.
- Don't stop on a traverse. To scout your next line, move above or below popular traverses like High Baldy and Road to Provo.
- Quiet down at the end of a Tram ride. Please be attentive during the Tram operator’s speech. It begins with “Welcome to the Top of Hidden Peak.”
- Be patient on powder mornings. Rest assured, the Mountain Operations Team is hard at work trying to get terrain and lifts open after a big storm. Grab a coffee, stand in line at the lift and stay tuned for updates on terrain openings. Subscribe to push notifications on the Snowbird App to be notified of all terrain openings and closings.
- Be nice online, too. Read Snowbird's Online Community Guidelines to learn about commenting on Snowbird's social media.
