Media Guidelines

Covering Snowbird? Start here.

When it comes to Snowbird, there’s a lot to tell. Just 30 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport, Snowbird boasts 2,500 acres of big mountain terrain blanketed in an average of 500” of snow annually. We recommend downloading the seasonal media kit, filled with helpful facts and figures to get you started.

Experience The Bird.

Want to experience The Bird for yourself? We love hosting media when we can. To protect the safety and privacy of our guests and employees and maintain our operations' integrity, we require media personnel to obtain prior approval from the Communications Team before filming or photography, including on-site interviews. To arrange a trip to Snowbird, please contact the Snowbird Marketing Team at 801.891.3496 or marketing@snowbird.com. Please note, your call or email must be at least 48 hours prior to your arrival and depends on availability. Snowbird does not provide complimentary media tickets during holiday periods, and we highly recommend scheduling your trip mid-week.

Please include the following in your email:

  • Purpose of your visit.
  • Description of the story you are working on and the targeted media outlet.
  • If it is a digital story, we love receiving data on your reach, engagement, etc.
  • Letter of assignment from editor of targeted media outlet.
  • Estimated date and time of your arrival.

Please note:

Any individual or organization wanting to engage in photography or filming on Snowbird property for broadcast, public dissemination or commercial usage of any type needs advance permission. Contact the Snowbird Marketing Team at 801.891.3496 or marketing@snowbird.com to start the process.

Complimentary lift passes may be issued to writers on assignment, on-air radio and TV announcers on assignment, editors directly responsible for publishing Snowbird coverage and photographers. Children, spouses and other guests not on assignment are not included.

Complimentary lift passes will only be issued to freelance photographers or writers on direct assignment from a specific publication. A 48-hour advance notice, in writing, is required from the publication to verify the assignment.

Drone Usage

Snowbird prohibits the operation or use of drones by recreational users and hobbyists. Requests for the use of drone(s) for commercial purposes will be reviewed by Snowbird and, if allowed, will require the execution of an agreement. In addition, all drone pilots must hold a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA and abide by the FAA’s Small UAS Rule (Part 107).
