Experience untracked powder skiing/riding via a snowcat in Snowbird's amazing backcountry terrain including 5 distinct areas: Sinner’s Pass, Pagan Basin, Borussia, Miller Hill and Mary Ellen Gulch. With small private groups and acres of untracked terrain, catsking is an optimal activity for safe physically-distanced winter recreation.

From the Aerial Tram to snowcat skiing within 45 minutes, Snowbird Mountain Guides offers the best ease of access to backcountry powder skiing. Get the most out of your time in the mountains.

Half-day and full-day private tours are available for groups up to 8 people.

Full-Day Private Tour

  • Details: $6,000 (up to 8 people). Includes a full-day of guided catskiing with 2 guides and a custom lunch in the backcountry. When possible and conditions allow, the group will start the day off with in-bounds warm-up laps, a pre-trip briefing and then head to the snowcat. The group will begin heading back to the ski area from the backcountry between 3 - 3:15 pm.
  • Terrain: Includes the majestic Mary Ellen Gulch, rolling terrain and aspen trees of Miller Hill and the north-facing slopes of Pagan Basin.
  • Skill Level: Advanced/expert skiers and riders recommended.
  • Time: 7:45 am - 3:30 pm. Meet at Snowbird Mountain Guides (Snowbird Center, Plaza Deck, Level 3).
  • Guests will be required to wear masks at all times while indoors and inside of the snowcat. Snowbird Mountain Guides has made efforts to create opportunities for physical distancing, increase snowcat cabin ventilation, limit operations to serve private groups only and operate at limited capacity. Where appropriate, SMG has implemented protocols in-line with guidance from CDC and state guidelines.

Half-Day Private Tour

  • Details: $4,500 (up to 8 people). Includes a half day of guided catskiing with 2 guides in the backcountry. When possible and conditions allow, the group will start the day off with in-bounds warm-up laps, a pre-trip briefing and then head to the snowcat. The group will begin heading back to the ski area from the backcountry between 12:30 - 12:45 pm.
  • Terrain: Includes the majestic Mary Ellen Gulch, rolling terrain and aspen trees of Miller Hill and the north-facing slopes of Pagan Basin.
  • Skill Level: Advanced/expert skiers and riders recommended.
  • Time: 7:45 am - 1 pm. Meet at Snowbird Mountain Guides (Snowbird Center, Plaza Deck, Level 3).

Equipment

Modern powder ski technology is recommended. Equipment is available at a discount rate the day prior through Snowbird Sports. All participants should be advanced skiers or riders in physical condition for high altitude exertion in variable snow and weather conditions. Participants must wear a beacon, which will be provided.

Cancellation Policy

All refunds are subject to a $50 per reservation processing fee. Cancellations made 30 days or more prior to your reservation date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 30 days or less are not subject to refund. Snowbird reserves the right to cancel any reservation due to conditions beyond our control. If Snowbird cancels for any reason, you will have the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
