Frequently asked questions

The Parking Reservation System

As part of Operation Stay Safe, we are implementing an online parking reservation system for all free Snowbird parking lots. This means that whether you’re a season passholder coming for a few powder day laps or a family looking to enjoy a full day on the mountain, you will need to let us know you’re coming by booking a parking reservation in advance at snowbird.com/parking.

Our goal has always been, and will continue to be, to provide our guests with a great and safe Snowbird experience. Implementing the parking reservation system as part of Operation Stay Safe will help us ensure the wellbeing of all through the careful management of the number of people at the resort at any given time. By managing the number of people on property, Snowbird guests can know that when they plan a trip to visit us, they are going to have a great experience – they will know they have a spot to park when they get here and plenty of room to spread out on the mountain.

No. Guests may reserve a total of 14 days at any given time and more days on a rolling basis and as advance days become week of days. Our goal is to allow guests to ski and ride on the days they wish, and each guest can reserve up to 7 “Advance Days” and 7 “Week-Of Days” at a time. As Advance Days become Week-Of, guests can book additional Advance Days not exceeding a total of 7 Advance Day reservations at any given time.

As in years past, parking along the side of SR-210 between Entry 1 and 4 will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, when conditions allow. Availability of this option will be determined daily by the Utah Department of Transportation based on conditions and will be communicated via our Mountain Report by 7 am.

If you already have a parking reservation, we ask that you scan your reservation and park in our lots to avoid a no-show penalty and to allow others to enjoy the mountain.

The parking system is implemented at all free Snowbird parking lots, including the Bypass Road. For those without a parking reservation, valet parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at both the Snowbird Center and Cliff Lodge. Parking along the side of SR-210 between Entry 1 and 4 will also be available without a parking reservation on a first-come, first-served basis, when conditions allow. Availability of this option will be determined daily by UDOT based on conditions and will be communicated via our Mountain Report daily by 7 am.

Specific to Week-Of Days, the rolling 7-days are always available for booking. In other words, every day, a new day becomes available (the 8th day out) to book.

Who is Required to Make a Reservation

Anyone of driving age (16 or older) may make a parking reservation at Snowbird.

Our passes continue to offer the same great access to mountain adventure. The parking system requires you to plan ahead to let us know you are coming so that we can ensure everyone on property is able to stay safe and appropriately physically distance. We are focused on the wellbeing of all, and an important part of that is managing the number of people at the resort at any given time.

Our goal is to allow passholders to ski and ride on the days they wish. The parking system is one tool amidst the many measures we are taking to manage volume and enable appropriate physical distancing. Other actions include:

  • Adding lift queue spacing measures, including extended maze designs, more lateral spacing and increased signage
  • Shifting to more grab-and-go options in our dining venues
  • Refining our Mountain School offerings
  • Adding new touchless transaction technology throughout the resort

No. All guests of driving age (16 and older) are able and required to book parking reservations pre-arrival via snowbird.com/parking.

No. Guests staying at a Snowbird lodging property (The Cliff Lodge, The Cliff Club, The Lodge at Snowbird, The Inn and Iron Blosam) do not need a reservation. If you are staying in Little Cottonwood Canyon but not in one of the properties listed above, you will need a reservation to access the parking lot. For homeowners and guests staying on the Bypass road, ski access is permitted.

Seven Summits/Base Camp members will receive a parking permit on a hangtag for their vehicle. Parking reservations will not be required and preferred parking areas will remain the same as last year.

No. Individuals with a disabled plate or placard will not need a parking reservation to enter the parking lot. Our accessible parking spaces are first-come first-served and are available at the Snowbird Center, Creekside and hotels.

You may park in valet parking with or without a parking reservation. Valet parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Preferred Parking passholders will receive (1) parking permit on a hangtag for their vehicle. The hangtag will be mailed to you before opening day, November 30. Parking reservations will not be required.

A limited number of passes were only offered to 2019-20 Preferred Parking passholders.

No. A limited number of passes were only offered to 2019-20 Preferred Parking passholders.

It’s important to note that the parking reservation system is an important tool for us to ensure the wellbeing of all and a safe, long ski season at Snowbird. As such, guests who arrive without reservations will not be permitted to park on premise. Reservations can be booked on the same day, if there is available inventory. We encourage guests to secure their spot before arriving at the resort.

Parking reservations are not required after 4 pm. Advance reservations are strongly encouraged at all of our restaurants.

A parking reservation is included when you advance book a treatment at The Cliff Spa. Your reservation will be emailed to you after booking the treatment. If you have any questions, please reach out at CliffSpa@snowbird.com.

Making a Reservation

Yes! So long as there is availability, booking can be made same day. We ask you to please reserve in advance of arrival to ensure a smooth experience upon entering the resort. Not only may inventory open up as cancellations are made, but we will be releasing additional inventory for afternoon arrivals daily when possible. This will be based upon the number of guests departing the resort and other variables, such as the weather and wind forecast. If there is no availability, valet parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at both the Snowbird Center and Cliff Lodge. Parking along the side of SR-210 between Entry 1 and 4 will also be available without a parking reservation on a first-come, first-served basis, when conditions allow. Availability of this option will be determined daily by UDOT based on conditions and will be communicated via our Mountain Report daily by 7 am.

A portion of parking inventory has been released for dates starting now, through the beginning of May. We will be releasing additional inventory for afternoon arrivals daily when possible. This will be based upon the number of guests departing the resort and other variables, such as the weather and wind forecast. Additional inventory will open every Monday at Noon MST. If there is no availability on a day you would like to ski, valet parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at both the Snowbird Center and Cliff Lodge. A portion of parking inventory has been released for dates starting now, through the beginning of May. Additional inventory will open every Monday at Noon MST.  We are only releasing a portion of parking spot inventory in accordance with Operation Stay Safe so that we may remain nimble and able to adjust as needed based on the pandemic, user patterns, open lifts/terrain and weather/conditions.

We will also be releasing additional inventory for afternoon arrivals, based on the number of guests departing the resort and other variables, such as the weather and wind forecast. For example: if it’s a bluebird day and guests are leaving after their morning laps, we will add more spaces for afternoon parking reservations. But, if it’s fresh after a storm and there are delays because of avalanche mitigation, we are unlikely to release additional afternoon spaces. Please check daily starting in the late morning to lock in those post-lunch laps.

Parking reservations will be booked via a separate page (on our website at snowbird.com/parking). A link to the parking system is available from our snowbird.com product pages.

All Advance Day parking reservations are for a full day. Using scan data from previous seasons, we have taken early departures, late arrivals and partial days into consideration. We will be releasing additional inventory for afternoon arrivals daily as available, based on the number of guests departing the resort and other variables, such as the weather and wind forecast. These reservations will be an afternoon-only reservation.

No. All Snowbird parking spots require a reservation. Lots will be scanning parking reservations from 7 am – 4 pm. If you do not have a reservation, valet parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at both the Snowbird Center and Cliff Lodge. Yes, each guest of driving age (16 or older) is able to book up to 7 advance days throughout the season and an unlimited amount of days in the rolling 7-day window.

Cancelling a Reservation

If your plans have changed, we understand. Please cancel your reservation as soon as you know your plans have changed. To ensure everyone has access to ski and ride this season, guests must cancel their parking reservations by 7 am if plans change and you are unable to visit. There will be a penalty to your account if you do not cancel. The best way to book, manage and cancel parking reservations is through the ParkWhiz app.

You may cancel your reservation for any reason as long as it's cancelled by 7 am the day of your reservation. The best way to book, manage and cancel parking reservations is through the ParkWhiz app. You can view more information about our no-show policy below or at snowbird.com/parking/, and see our full Terms & Conditions for additional details.

If you do not cancel before the time your arrival window begins on your reserved date and you are a no-show, it will result in loss of future days booked.  You can view more information about our no-show policy below or on snowbird.com/parking, and see our full Terms & Conditions for additional details.

If you need to return that same day (ex. go back home to pick up a child’s piece of critical equipment), please get a stamp from the Parking Gate Staff as you exit the parking lot. When you come back to Snowbird, show the stamp and your original parking reservation confirmation and you will be allowed to re-enter.

We are proud to be part of the local community and want to be sure we are doing our part to ensure everyone stays safe this season and has access to ski and ride on the days they wish. Putting this policy into place as part of our comprehensive Operation Stay Safe plan will help us accomplish this. Cancelling parking reservations if plans change is good karma and will ensure our friends and neighbors have access if we aren’t going to make it to the mountain.

If your plans need to change, we understand. Please do your best to cancel by the required deadline: 7 am on the day of your parking reservation. And if you are unable to do so and believe you should not be penalized, please reach out to us at parking@snowbird.com.

We are all part of the Snowbird community and to ensure everyone has access to ski and ride this season, you must cancel your parking reservations by 7 am if plans change and you are unable to visit. Cancellations cannot be made after that point. We ask that as a courtesy you cancel as soon as you know your plans have changed and, by doing so, you will help a friend or neighbor have a chance to ski and ride.

Yes. Not showing and not cancelling on any booked day—whether it is a Week-Of or an Advance Day—will result in being penalized as a no-show. You must scan in before our lift operations close or cancel by the deadline to avoid a no-show penalty.

Free.

Snowbird parking lots will not open to guests until after avalanche mitigation and the road closure is complete.

We offer access to Snowbird to a variety of passholders and a parking reservation system ensures the most equal access to ski and ride across passholder groups. We will not be limiting ticket sales or season pass usage. We are doing all we can to protect everyone’s wellbeing and to ensure passholders and guests can ski and ride on the days they prefer. We ask that our passholders and guests do what they can as well, including planning ahead this season to let us know when they are coming and reserve parking access if not staying on property, being dropped off or using public transit.
