Getting Here
Snowbird bound.
Address
9385 S. Snowbird Center Dr.
Snowbird, UT 84092-9000
Snowbird is located 6 miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon off of SR-210. Though it's typically a quick drive from Salt Lake City, visitors may experience delays due to road conditions, particularly on holidays, weekends and powder days. To ensure you're prepared, we’ve outlined some tips and tricks to make getting here as simple as possible.
Canyon Driving Laws
Snowbird, along with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and local law enforcement, have the utmost concern for the safety of visitors and guests coming up to the mountains. Making sure your vehicle is properly equipped to drive in snowy conditions should be the first step in having a great day on the mountain. Before your trip to Snowbird, check the Mountain Report for the road status and parking information.

The Traction Law
If it’s snowing on SR-210—the road through Little Cottonwood Canyon to Snowbird—UDOT’s Traction Law will almost certainly be in effect. This law requires that all vehicles driving on SR-210 be equipped with traction devices. Drivers are notified when the Traction Law is in effect via UDOT road signs, message boards and social media feeds. You can also check the Mountain Report.

Road Closures
Over 60 avalanche slide paths bisect SR-210, requiring UDOT to occasionally close the road to mitigate avalanche hazards. In the event of a midday road closure, guests will be notified with as much notice as possible through the Snowbird App, digital signage (located at lift bases, The Cliff Lodge, the Snowbird Center and Creekside) and the Mountain Report.

Parking
The ability to park along the highway is determined on a daily basis and can be found on the Mountain Report. When allowed, parking along the south side of SR-210 between Entry 1 and 4 will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to avalanche mitigation work, overnight parking alongside SR-210 or in Snowbird’s lots (excluding lodge guests) is prohibited.
