Orientation: On the first day, campers will be organized into small groups with counselors. Each group will participate in biking and running activities as well as drills to orient campers and ensure compatibility of groups. These activities are designed for fun and skill building so we prepare the campers and set them up for optimal success the rest of the week.

Running Skills: Campers will participate in basic and trail running skills and drills designed to educate and assess skill level for hiking activities. These will be ‘game’ focused in nature and help campers get to know each other.

Swimming Skills: Cool off with an afternoon swim session at The Cliff Lodge pool as part of camp.

Rock Climbing: Campers will learn the basics of sport climbing on our local climbing venues. These are graduated in nature. Our coaches are experienced climbers and guides.

Hiking: Snowbird has miles of terrain dotted with wildflowers, wildlife and history. Campers can explore at their level and learn about the unique nature of Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Other Activities: Team-building initiatives and challenges as well as Snowbird's summer activities are also part of our camps.

Team Challenge: Friday will wrap with a combined competition that will offer campers the chance to demonstrate performance in a series of challenge-based activities. The competition will be individualized for each group. Parents are welcome to join us for the afternoon festivities if they desire.

Activities may vary due to weather and skill levels. Campers will be in groups of like ages; activities and coaching will be provided in smaller groups.

Mountain Biking: Each group will participate in mountain bike skills building activities and trail riding; destination and trail use will depend on skill and desire of campers. Please note: We do NOT provide mountain bikes.

Mountain Bike Requirements:

  • 24" mountain bike wheels.
  • 26" mountain bike wheels for larger campers with at least 8 gears.
  • Disk or rim brakes (no coaster brakes).
  • Functioning front (and rear) shocks – OK if you have them but not required.
  • Can they stand up with the top tube between their legs and both feet flat on the ground?
  • Can they comfortable reach the handlebars, brakes, shift levers, etc when seated in the saddle?
  • Is the bike heavier than yours? (many "kids" bikes are very heavy; consider another option).
  • Remove kickstands, racks, baskets, etc.
  • Check with your local bike shop to answer questions or concerns.

  • For campers who have purchased transportation, we depart from the Park & Ride (4385 Little Cottonwood Canyon Rd, Sandy, UT 84092) at the bottom of Little Cottonwood Canyon each day at 8:30 am. We will shuttle them to Snowbird and return them to the Park & Ride by 5 pm.
  • For campers that are a part of the Mountain Sports Camp, Mountain Sports Biking Camp or the Intro. to Biking Camp, parents will need to provide transportation for the first and last day in order to bring up and take down the mountain bikes.

Please provide running/hiking/biking shoes (no open-toed shoes please; campers with improper footwear will miss out on activities).
